Every year SSLC examination conducted by DGE, Tamil Nadu on behalf of state government, give the exam dates and Time schedule for class 10th regular and private students of the state. Generally authority  issues the time table in 2nd week or June first week, for the board exam to be conducted in the March / April. Class 10th must be obtained at the end of term of study at the high school after which a student can study at a higher secondary, which is sometimes called a Plus Two for two years. Directorate of Government Examination Simply called as DGE and was established Feb, 1975, It regulates, controls and developers, secondary education and Higher Secondary education in the state. The board also arranges for the preparation , compilation, improvement publication, printing and distribution of text books for 1st to 12th are also done by board.The Board conducts the examination each year and provide the certification to qualified students.

Functions of the Board

• Collecting data relevant to the student appearing for various exams from school.

• Constitution of centers to conduct the exam.

• Printing and supply of question papers to the exam centers.

• Supply of stationary articles to the exam centers 

• Collection of private candidates data through nodal centre via online.

• Supply of printed nominal Roll of candidates registered for the exam and issue of hall tickets to private candidates.

• Appointment officials to conduct the exam at various centers , based on the proposals received from inspecting officers.
