Punjab School Education Board shortly called as PSEB and was established in November 1969, for development and promotion of school education in the state of Punjab , Vidhan Sabha amended the boards ACT to grant it autonomy the scope of Boards. Due to the increasing number of students per year, the work load is also increased and the board is handling all the academic matters related with framing of syllabus for all the classes 1-12th Class, including 10th, 11th and 12th. The board has decided to improve the evaluation system and there results, has set up divisional offices of the board. The board also provides affiliation to many schools in all over the state.
The board responsible for determining the policy related administrative, cognitive and intellectual direction of the state educational system. Every year the student strength increasing tremendously. Functions of the Board

To make necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of public examination at school level. At present the Board conducts public examinations at Middle, Matriculation and Senior Secondary Level.
