Every year Uttar Pradesh State Intermediate final examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Prashad, Allahabad, on behalf of state government, give the exam dates and Time schedule Plus two examination for class 12th regular and private students of the state. The Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttarpradesh / Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Prashad-UPMSP was established in 1921 at Allahabad. It conducted its first examination in 1923. This Board is one in India which from the very start, had adopted 10+2 system of examination. The first public examination after 10 years education is High School examination and after the 10+2 stage is Intermediate  examination prior to 1923 , University of Allahabad was the examining body of these two examination. Presently the Board is holding the examinations and preparing the results of nearly 32 lakh students.

This is one biggest education body in India. Approximately 70 lakh students appear in High School and Intermediate Board exam of UP. UP state have 70 districts and board exam are conducted across all districts. The Uttar Pradesh a few secondary schools are being governed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and  Indian Council of School Education (ICSE), but most of the secondary schools seek recognition of the U.P Board, at present there are 1921 secondary schools recognized by the UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education.

• To prescribe courses of instruction for examinations

• Conduct examinations of High School and Intermediate classes .

• To prescribe conditions of examinations, conduct examinations and responsible for making necessary arrangements for the same.

• To publish the results of external examinations

• Advise the Government in standard requirement in respect of staff, buildings, furniture, equipment , stationery and other amenities required for Higher Secondary schools.

• To prepare the curricula, syllabus and test books in accordance with the approved courses of study.
