Kidambi Srikanth reaches Hylo Open semi-final with hard-fought win over Angus Ng Ka-Long

India’s Kidambi Srikanth beat the higher ranked Angus Ng Ka-Long to reach the semi-final of the Hylo Open Super 500 tournament in Germany on Friday. In what was a see-saw match, Srikanth prevailed 21-11, 12-21, 21-19.

Srikanth, ranked 15, hardly broke a sweat in the first game, cruising to a 21-11. However the ninth-ranked Angus Ng stormed back into the match, dominating the second game to and winning it 21-12.

The decider was played on an even keel before Srikanth took a 20-15 lead. While he had five match points, Srikanth squandered four of them before finally edging to victory.
