Mumbai under-reporting Covid deaths? Mayor says no river to dump dead; BJP hits out at her

The BJP in Mumbai on Friday hit out at Shiv Sena leader and Mayor of Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Kishori Pednekar over the latter’s ‘no river to dump dead’ remark.

Responding to the allegations of Mumbai under-reporting Covid-related deaths, Kishori Pednekar on June 10 took a jibe at the BJP government, saying that there are no rivers in Mumbai where bodies can be dumped. She further refused BJP’s allegations, saying that no data was being concealed by the authorities.

“No data is being hidden in Mumbai. There is no river in Mumbai where bodies of people succumbing to Corona are being dumped. All Covid-19 deaths in Mumbai are recorded at three places, so the data can’t be hidden,” Pednekar had said.

In his reply to Kishori Pednekar, BJP leader Ram Kadam said the Shiv Sena should stop playing politics over the dead.
