New Redmi TV launching today: Price, features, livestream and everything else

Xiaomi is set to launch a new Redmi TV in India on Wednesday afternoon. The electronics maker had entered the smart TV business few years ago with the ‘Mi’ branded smart televisions and expanded to the Redmi TV series earlier this year. The latter aims to provide more affordable smart TVs just like the Redmi smartphones. The new Redmi TV is confirmed to come in two different screen sizes 32-inch and 43-inch. Xiaomi has also made a dedicated microsite for the device.

The new Redmi TV will be launched during an online only event. The launch event will start at 12 noon. The livestream of Redmi TV launch will be available on Xiaomi’s official YouTube channel, social media handles and website. You can also check the price, features and specifications of the Redmi TV on India Today Tech, once the new smart television is unveiled.

The exact features and specifications of the TV will be known during the launch but, the microsite has given some idea about few of them. We know that it will be launched in two screen sizes 32-inch and 43-inch. The dedicated microsite for the launch also reveals that the TV will have 20W speakers and support for Dolby Audio and DTS Virtual: X for surround sound.

Xiaomi has also confirmed that the new Redmi TV will feature Android TV 11 out of the box. This operating system will further be complemented by Xiaomi’s own PatchWall on top. To recall, the company had introduced the Patchwall 4 with the Mi TV 5X line-up last month and it will also be extended to the new Redmi TVs. The operating system brings IMDb integration which allows viewers to check the ratings of movies and shows directly from the content page.

Other features on offer include dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, auto low latency mode and more. The display will use Vivid Picture Engine. The TV comes as part of Xiaomi’s Make in India efforts.

The official pricing of the new Redmi TV will be unveiled during the launch event. However, both the variants are expected to be priced quite aggressively. The 32-inch variant may cost even less than Rs 20,000. To recall, the Redmi Smart TV X Series was launched in March this year in three sizes, priced at Rs 32,999 for the 50-inch variant, Rs 38,999 for the 65-inch variant, and Rs 57,999 for the top-end 65-inch variant.
