Scotland vs Namibia: Ruben Trumpelmann becomes first bowler to take 3 wickets in 1st over in T20I cricket

Namibian fast bowler Ruben Trumpelmann set a new record in T20 international cricket on Wednesday when he picked 3 wickets in the first over of the Super 12 match against Scotland in the ICC T20 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.

Ruben Trumpelmann, who is a 23-year-old left-arm pacer, sent back George Munsey, Calum MacLeod and skipper Richie Berrington to leave Scotland tottering at 2 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the first over but missed out on a chance to complete his hat-trick.

Ruben Trumpelmann thus, became the first bowler in T20I history to take 3 wickets in the opening over of a match.

Trumpelmann’s opening spell helped Namibia restrict Scotland to 109 for 8 in 20 overs after electing to bowl first at the Zyed international Stadium. Trumpelmann was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 17 from his 4 overs while Jan Frylinck grabbed a couple of wickets for Namibia.
