T20 World Cup: Defeat to Pakistan dented India’s self-confidence, says Sunil Gavaskar

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar said India’s self-confidence took a beating after they lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets in their T20 World Cup opener and that it showed in the way Virat Kohli’s men approached the crunch game against New Zealand on Sunday.

Speaking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said India were taken aback by their first loss to their arch-rivals in a World Cup campaign and that they looked demoralized ever since.

India’s T20 World Cup campaign is in tatters as the former champions are staring at an early exit after losing their first 2 matches in the showpiece event for the first time. India’s Net Run Rate has taken a beating as Pakistan hammered them by 10 wickets and New Zealand did so by 8 wickets. India were restricted to 151 by Pakistan and it went from bad to worse as they managed just 110 on the board in a timid batting display against New Zealand in Dubai.
