T20 World Cup: Unfortunate Yuzvendra Chahal is not playing for India, says Imran Tahir

South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir on Monday said he personally wanted to see Yuzvendra Chahal in the T20 World Cup for India but that it’s unfortunate that the seasoned leg-spinner missed out on a ticket to the UAE.

Tahir, who did not find a place in the South African squad for the World Cup, highlighted the importance of leg-spinners in the shortest format of the game.

Yuzvendra Chahal had been one of India’s first-choice bowlers in the T20 format but he was dropped from India’s 15-man squad due to dip in form in the lead up to the team selection deadline. Chahal found his mojo back in the UAE leg of IPL 2021 but it came a bit too late as Rahul Chahar was preferred over his senior counterpart. India’s selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma said Chahar’s ability to bowl quicker through the air worked in his favour.
