Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur lavished praise on Neeraj Chopra after the Tokyo Olympic gold medallist shattered his own national record in the javelin throw.
Chopra, who replaced to competitive action for the first time since the Tokyo event, set a new nationwide record and personal best of 89.30m at the Paavo Nurmi Games 2022, a Continental Tour event in Turku, Finland on June 14. The throw of 89.30m was also better than his gold-medal winning throw of 87.58m at the Tokyo Olympics.
