AP High Court Civil Judge Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria & Qualification

Educational Qualification

Direct Recruitment: Candidates must possess a Degree in Law (LL.B.) obtained within the preceding one year as on the date of notification (pursuant to the judgment in Bhumika Trust Vs. Union of India and others, Writ Petition (Civil) No. 1110/2025 dated 21-08-2026).

Recruitment by Transfer: Applicants must possess a Degree in Law from a recognized university and be a confirmed member or approved probationer in eligible categories across the High Court, District Judiciary, Prosecution Services, Law Department Secretariat, or Advocate General's Office in AP.

Age Limit (as on 01-09-2026)

Direct Recruitment: Maximum 35 years.

SC / ST / BC / EWS: Relaxation of 5 years.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Relaxation of 10 years.

Ex-Servicemen: Period of service rendered in the Defence Services is excluded.

Recruitment by Transfer: Maximum 48 years.

Selection Process

The selection for AP High Court Civil Judge consists of three progressive stages:

Salary & Training Emoluments

Year 1 (Training Period): Selected candidates are designated as "Trainee Judicial Officers" at the Judicial Academy and receive a fixed stipend equal to 50% of regular Civil Judge remuneration.

Year 2 (Law Clerkship): One year of structured Law Clerkship (6 months under Principal District/Sessions Judge and 6 months under a High Court Judge) with the same emoluments

Regularization: Upon satisfactory evaluation reports, trainees are appointed to regular posts with full pay scale and benefits.
